Turkeyish baths...

Turkeys like to lay in the dust and flap their wings. It's fun to watch because they really get into it. It's called dust bathing but I like to think my name fits too. Here's one at it...

Last week our neighbor mowed and baled the hay in the pasture next to us. This made for excellent bathing for the turkeys. See, the two dusty blobs behind the turkey walking?...

This is a couple of males strutting in the front yard. They really make a big show of themselves trying to impress the ladies.

So, pretty soon we'll see the momma turkeys marching their brood up the hill beside us where they roost at night. Of course, I'll try to get a picture of that cuteness.

The garden is growing and the only flowers we have blooming now are the lilies.

Blessings to you all from the holler...

Hey there Mrs JP...
I love your turkeys (and your flowers). Are they wild turkeys,or are they yours?
Yes, I also love birds doing their dust-bath-thingy. You should see ELEPHANTS do this! Ele's love it as much as they love mud and water. Just thought you'd be interested.
BTW, I'm having problems with blogger, so am commenting 'anonymously', but you know who I am :)

Your lilies are beautiful. We have a few of them here, but the bunnies eat all the flowers as soon as they bloom.

That is funny about the turkeyish baths:) We have nevr heard about dustbaths.

I love the turkeys! We have some around my house too! I read your storm post. We were lucky not to lose power. I also love the fact that your mother never complained. My doesn't either, even when she is sick, she just never complains. I could learn from her!
Have a nice day!

Wild turkeys are wonderful. You got some great pictures! Those dust baths get rid of bugs, I think. Your lilies are so colorful. Looks like summer life is very nice in the holler!

Ooohh~ beautiful lilies... I LOVE the colors.
I think it's so funny when my chickens take dust baths... you would think they were trying to dig to China or something.
