Rainy day sleepyheads...

Today is a rainy day in the holler. My Grandma used to say "it's a dreary day but I guess we'll take it." The fog has rolled in outside and the dogs look like they've all been given a sedative. They're just resting up so they can bark at the thunder later when JP and I want to sleep.
Soon, though, we'll pull that straw covering off of the strawberry bed. The blueberries (center) have been fertilized and the peach trees pruned so we are getting ready for spring. I need to get my tomato seeds sown so I'll be ready when garden time comes. Have you done that already?

Scrappy only opened one eye.

Speedbump looks absolutely drugged.

Oh, this black cap chickadee didn't want his picture taken but I waited until he hopped around the feeder.

Charlie stays in his kennel when he can; it's his little den.

It's a rainy day but our spirits are thankful for the liquid sunshine. Blessings from the holler...

What a day - and it's only noon!...

Today has been such a good day so far! I got JP off to work, had some breakfast, grabbed the mail and went for a walk to the mailbox and back. I must have gotten too much fresh air or something on that walk because I came in the house and decided that this is the day I'm gonna finally shampoo our carpets....hoo boy did they need it! So, of course, I had to detail vacuum before getting the shampooer out. So, here I go vacuuming along, even getting some of the dust on the tables when schwoop---there goes my favorite gold chain and cross necklace!! Sigh... I emptied the contents of the canister into a bakery box so I could pull it out and get on with it---was it there? No. Heavy Sigh... I knew I was gonna have to take that stupid (who's stupid?) thing apart. So, I got my little screwdriver and took the back part off and fished out my beloved necklace. Of course, I had the help of Charlie and Violet.

I must explain this picture. I've named it Violet's temptation. I had a Kleenex next to me while I was working and that is her absolute favorite thing to steal and eat, so she was waiting for me to turn my back. It's kind of like me trying to ignore a brownie--it's just one of those things.

So, I finally got the carpets completely finished! Yippee... :O) I decided to go outside where the dogs play and walk the fence to make sure no unwelcome guests can just waltz in and Scrappy can't get out. I found a few spots that needed attention and fixed them and, of course, there was a stick game going on.

I have forgotten to show you our first batch of homemade wine! It's White Grape/Cherry and it turned out really good.

The day isn't over, Corrie and Daisy have their annual check up this afternoon. Corrie isn't going to like it but Daisy loves any opportunity to get attention. Tomorrow I'll take Speedbump and Violet and we'll be all done for another year. Did I say there wasn't much going on here in a previous post? What planet was I on that day? We're enjoying the spring like weather here in the holler and so thankful for it.

Blessings from the holler to you...

Nothing new under the sun...

Hello all, we've been such slackers about doing posts. There's really nothing new under the sun here in the holler except (insert sound of angels singing) that we've had SUN!!! Mild temperatures and sunshine,,yeehaw. Yesterday I went out and pruned back some winter dead stuff that needed to go a long time ago. I saw signs of spring and felt the sun on my back as I worked in the dirt--heaven on earth.

Pictures, pictures...

What do you do with your pictures?

When I have nothing to do (oh, sorry, I almost fell out of my chair laughing) I like to scrapbook. I need to carve out more time for this because we have so many pictures from before digital cameras that need to be preserved.

Small scrapbooks make great gifts! I made four books, one for each of my aunts and my mom of Grandma before she died and they cherish them. My grandson loves to get pictures of his time with us memorialized.

Currently, I'm working on a book to hold all of our pictures from when we were into whitewater paddling. When our son was about 8 or 9 we started canoeing and got the fever. JP paddled a canoe and son and I paddled kayaks.

JP on the Ocoee River, TN

Me on the Nantahala River, NC

Our son on the Cartecay River, GA

These pictures are so blurry but they deserve to be in a book where they won't yellow anymore than they already have.

See you never know what you'll find out about us. Recalling happy memories is so soothing. We pray that you all are doing well. Blessings from the holler to you...
