Here we go...

Our garden has started to really produce, and I pray the blessings will go through to the fall. Please don't quote me on this later, because I'll be whining for sure in a month. I've learned that one zucchini plant is plenty for two people, with enough to share with others (that's my favorite part). The tomato plants are doing pretty good, although, we've got blossom end rot on the Roma variety again, so I'm boosting their calcium. The peppers are junin' along as are the lima beans, but it'll be a month before we have to do anything with them. Those darker colored tomatoes are heirloom Cherokee Purples, we'll see how they taste!

Speaking of blessings, yesterday I was driving along listening to my music in the truck and this song came on that is one of my favorites by MercyMe. As I sang this to God, I felt so thankful that He spoke my name. I hope you enjoy the lyrics below and have a blessed weekend from all of us here in the holler.

When I first spoke Your name
I used it like a blade
Cutting sharp a mask to hide the pain
When I first spoke Your name

When I next spoke Your name
I could no longer bear the weight
Of years hiding behind the ache
When I next spoke Your name

But when You spoke my name
Oh I swear the angels sang
Peace came and stole my shame
When You spoke my name

Now when I speak Your name
I sing it like a sweet refrain
I have found a peace I can't explain
When I speak Your name

Cause when You spoke my name
Oh I swear the angels sang
Peace came and stole my shame
When You spoke my name

I can hardly speak
Knowing You know me
Thank God I'm free

Now my world has completely come undone
For I can hear the Son
Calling out to me

Cause when You spoke my name
Oh I swear the angels sang
Peace came and stole my shame

When You spoke my name
Oh I swear the angels sang
Peace came and stole my shame
When You spoke my name

Very nice looking harvest! I planted Cherokee Purple for the 1st time as well this year. Can't wait to try them. About bottom end rot, I've heard that when you transplant the tomatoes, add a handfull of crushed eggshells(eggshells are full of calcium).
About the zucchinis, I normally cut them into chucks and blench them for 1 min and the freeze them. My friend always saute them and then freeze them and all you have to do is to just reheat and eat.

The words to that song are wonderful. Your tomatoes look soooo good. I can't wait to get some homegrown ones here at local farm stands.
