What's new...

Since it's been such a dreary winter I think it would be a good thing to share any signs of life and spring.
I intentionally shocked our Christmas cactus late so we'd have flowers in gray winter. At Christmas there's enough color and so much distraction that this little plant might have been ignored had it bloomed during December. So what started out as four beautiful blooms ended up as one. So that makes it extra special. I've really appreciated it's vibrant color and those little petals look like they are being stretched they are open so wide.

Today, I started some herb seeds inside. I even pulled out my new summer garden hat (I'll have to wear since my skin has gone loco) and put it nearby to remind me that spring is just around the corner. Have you started planning your garden or started any plants inside?

Was that the hat that Isaac was supposed to give to Joseph to match his technicolor coat? lol

Hi there Mrs JP
Looks like you have the joys of spring in your household! What upliftment - nothing like a beautiful flower to do that.
When I was a child - on a farm in rural South AFrica - we had a plant just like that one and it would flower continuously throwing its long strands of colour everywhere.
How wonderful to see it again...quite nostalgic for me. Thank you for a sweet, uplifting post!

The bloom is beautiful, and your hat looks perfect for a good sun shade!
We've been working in our yard, but just fighting weeds and mushrooms...not sure what to do next, as our soil is an awful clay. Potted plants and raised beds are what we are thinking. Yet, at the moment, the yard is pretty unsightly!

Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,

I see the garden hat next to the seedlings... remember- "you can't fool Mother Nature!" LOL
Love the cactus- my mom had one of those for years and it was so pretty when it bloomed.

Beautiful bloom! Love the hat!
It will have to be another month before I start my seeds. We normally can't plant until after mid May, otherwise you'd have to risk a late frost.

I love your Christmas cactus bloom. Mine bloomed in January and had about 4 blooms on it. I picked it up at a garage sale of all places!

I can see your hate and that you've started your little plants there, but I can't quite make what you've got your seeds planted in. Hmmm... I'll go back and see if I can enlarge the pic...
