A friend of mine had this bird at her feeder and sent me the picture to see if I knew what kind he is. I don't know, but I bet you do. Can you help us out?

Lemony Tea Bread...

Mrs. JP
I found this recipe and made it last week. It is delicious. The only thing I didn't like is that it made a small loaf so next time I'm making a double recipe!
Lemon Tea Bread
1/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel
3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
dash of salt
1/4 c. milk
Glaze
1 tablespoon lemon juice
3-4 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg, lemon peel, beat well. Combine flour, baking powder and salt, add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
Transfer to a 5 ¾ in. X 3 in loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick comes our clean. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. With a toothpick put holes in the top so the glaze can get all in that bread. Combine glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm bread.
Eat and enjoy. This bread is so good with coffee. Like I said, next time I'm going to double and either make 2 small loaves or try to make one regular size.
Blessings from the holler.

I made the most unusual jelly today. Rose petal jelly. I followed TennZen's Rose Jelly recipe it is beautiful and it tastes good too! I had to test it you know. Quality control and all that. I want to say a special thank you to TennZen for the recipe and encouraging me to try something new.

Painting the Barn...

My parents barn has been decorated by my Mother and her two sisters (with errand help by Dad and uncles.) The front part was plain so when my Aunts visited this spring we made it match the side. The side, which was done in 2007 needed to be touched up. This was like paint by number, even I could do this. It took us two mornings to redo the colors and today we did all the black trim. Occasionally my Dad would come out for his commentary and some encouragement. All in all it turned out great and we had so much fun!

This couple gave an impromptu recital in the Mayo clinic atrium.
I pray that God will teach me to stay young at heart.
May you and yours be blessed this weekend.

Clean pups...

Corrie hates it because she has issues from when she had to be treated for mange as a pup. She and Violet both had to be dipped in something that smelled like kerosene and it probably stung their skin so there's extra grace and patience for them. Charlie really didn't know what was going on and didn't care. To him, any attention is good attention. Daisy and Speedbump will actually climb in the tub on their own (my back thanks them.) They know the drill by now. That just leaves Scrappie who gets the most baths of any of the others combined since it is her life's mission to smell like something dead. None of the others have this nasty habit but to Scrappie it is an art. Actually, she got another bath this morning because she'd rolled in something dead. I walk out in their yard and usually can't find anything; she's a piece of work.
I had intentions of taking pictures as I went along but gave up that idea. We can't afford a new camera and I was sure I'd get it wet. So here's poor little Corrie.

Then there's the whole bathroom and me to clean up. The dogs might fuss a bit but they sure get into some serious naps after their bath.

Hey from the holler...

The garden is juning right along,,,,git it! Tater tires are crazy big, our tomatoes, corn, peppers are all healthy. I finally got a container garden going on the front porch so we can get to the herbs without making the trek to the garden.
These petals are marked for rose petal jam.
Have a great week from all of us here in the holler.
Oh, I have a reliable source that says that June is National Iced Tea Month. Happy Iced Tea month!
