Just trying to keep up...

Is anyone else remembering just how busy summer can be? So far, I've frozen peaches, made peach jam and dill pickles. That's just the start of it because the garden is just starting to produce. Pretty soon I'll be blessed by tomatoes everywhere!! During the winter, when I'm picking out what I want in the garden, I have forgotten what a whirlwind it can be. But isn't it a blessing to have a little piece of land where we can have a garden? We have zucchini too; we've been enjoying that sauteed with olive oil, salt and pepper. So how does your garden grow?

Blessings to you all from the holler!

At the moment it is mid-winter here so there is not much in it, but my small vegetable garden grows surrounded by chicken wire to keep the neighbours cats from using it as a dirt box, which means Riley needs to check out where the cats have been, or what some of the vegetables and strawberries taste like! Do you need to dog proof your garden or are all your dogs not interested in it?

It is a blessing and yet it is hardwork trying to get everything can before they go bad. But in the winter time when you open that can of sauce or jam, all your hardwork will be paid off.

WOW, you know I have canned anything, ever! I wouldn't even know where to start! My sister-in-law Penny cans everything. I think that takes a special talent! I think I first have to grow vege's. That would help!

I'm so jealous that you have time to blog! I'm trying so hard to keep up with garden and canning and dog and yard and husband....my blog is suffering! Everything looks great! What kind of pickles?

I've enjoyed reading your blogs dating back to June. I can't wait to try some of your recipes. Our garden has not produced much this year...too much rain, then too little. A good excuse to shop the farmer's market and bless a local farmer.

Me, too - canning and preserving. Our garden is about gone now, but I'm about pooped out, too, so I guess it's good timing! I'm thankful for my garden, too, and for all the good things we'll be enjoying when winter comes!

I'd love to have a greenhouse someday so I can continue to have fresh veggies. But that's on down the line... Have a wonderful weekend!
